IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO KNOW BEFORE RETURNING YOUR RENTAL INSTRUMENT

The school year is over and summer is here!

What should you do with your rental instrument? Please read the FAQs below before taking action.

Q: My June payment was not processed on its normal due date, why is that?

A: We delay all auto-payments for the first 10 days of June due to high volume of returns at the end of the school year. If your due date fell in that range, we apologize for the delay and your payment will be caught up the week after (assuming you haven’t returned your instrument).

Q: Is it necessary to return my rental instrument for the summer?

A: It is 100% your choice to decide if you will return your instrument during the summer months or not. Around half of our customers keep their instrument and the other half return. Many customers want to save money because they don’t think their student will play over the summer which is understandable. There are a few advantages, however, to keeping your horn over the summer assuming you are planning to play the same instrument again next year..

  • You keep the equity you’ve built from renting so far. Returning your instrument forfeits any previous equity you’ve gained.

  • You get to practice over the summer!

  • You don’t need to wait in long lines next fall to get another instrument.

  • You’ll be playing an instrument that is familiar to you since you’ll have the same instrument. *note* If you choose not to return the instrument over the summer, you may still want to check in your instrument to the shop for routine maintenance.

Q: To which location do I return my instrument?

A: You MUST return your instrument to EASTSIDE MUSIC (21977 SE Stark St. Gresham, OR 97030). Leaving the instrument at the school is NOT an acceptable way to return the instrument and you will continue to be charged monthly rent until it is at EASTSIDE MUSIC.

Q: I rented the instrument for my student. Does that mean I am the one who needs to return the instrument?

A: No, it is not required that the renter be present to close the rental agreement. ANYONE can return the instrument as long as they provide us the correct account information that the rental is under. Instruments are tracked by serial number which means a student, a relative or a friend may return the instrument on behalf of the renter if they cannot find the time to get to our store. A copy of the RETURN RECEIPT will be provided to the person who returns the instrument which may be passed along to the renter later.

Q: What all needs to be returned?

A: See the guide below to help you account for all your rental components before returning:
