Meet the Repair Staff!

Jake

Jake is the Lead Band Instrument Repair Technician at Eastside Music. We are proud to have Jake working with us and his skills are among the best we've seen! Jake graduated from Central Washington University with a degree in saxophone performance and then got a certificate in band instrument repair at Renton Technical College. He later relocated to Elkhart, Indiana to work for the famous Conn-Selmer Company where he held the positions of Master Instrument Technician and Returned Goods Coordinator. While at CS Jake was also the lead technician on the Saxophone Development team. Jake eventually settled back in the Pacific Northwest where he worked at a local shop before coming to join the Eastside team early in 2025. We are excited to continue working with Jake and we encourage anyone who takes their woodwind and brass playing experience seriously to consider having Jake work on you instruments next. Outside of Eastside Jake is a regularly performing around the PNW with rock bands, chamber music groups, musical theater companies, jazz bands, and the Portland Wind Symphony.

Dorian

Dorian has worked for Eastside Music as our Lead Tech for over 30 years! Recently, Dorian went into semi-retirement and now lives part of each year in the Philippines with his family but we are very happy to have him still with us each Friday while he is here in Oregon.

Dorian is one of the most rounded and handy techs we’ve had the pleasure of working with. If there’s a job you’re not sure about or that seems too confusing to get through, there’s a good chance Dorian is the one who can get it done.

We are very lucky to have Dorian’s wealth of knowledge of repair and all things musical instruments and if you get the chance, you should have him work on your instrument!

Cecil

Cecil joined our team in August of 2025. He stood out to the Eastside team for his eagerness to learn and the quickness of his adapting to a new environment.

While new to Eastside, Cecil is no stranger to music. He has spent his entire life playing violin and being in a family of string orchestra players. He also has family involved in the luthier trade.

Cecil graduated with a Bachelor’s in performance from Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, California. After graduating, he travelled briefly and moved to the east coast before deciding he wanted to settle back in the PNW, where he is from originally. Cecil has much to offer our community and customers who stop by our store. If you need a restring or some work done on your violin, viola or cello, bring it by for Cecil to work on.
